Studio and Live

My name is Leon Place, I am 17 from North East England. I play guitar and I want to create my own music either in a band or be a solo musician. I started listening to rock and metal at the age of 14. I got into that type of music of my parents as I was born into a house of music enjoyers. I first got into bands like evanescence and black sabbath and then my taste for other bands progressed from there. I played a gig at base camp in Middlesbrough with my college band and one inside the college in the black box.

Here is a link to my first gig with the college band.

My First recording session This is my first recording session in band rehearsal. I was playing my Ibanez GIO which is the usual guitar I play but it used to be a Fender Stratocaster.

Case study on Kurt Cobain:

Case study on Kurt Cobain

This is a case study on who inspired me to be a musician. Kurt Cobain was my biggest inspiration to music ever since I first picked up a guitar, When he was in the band Nirvana I thought the music was mind blowing.

Early life

Kurt Donald Cobain was born on 20th February 1967 in Aberdeen, Washington. In his early life at age 7, his parents got divorced and he was moved to live with multiple different relatives due to being difficult to live with. Moments of his early life are reflected in the song “sliver”. Kurt disliked school and spent his time painting and singing. He listened to bands such as The Monkees, The Beatles, Black Sabbath, The Sex Pistols and The Clash in 1979. On his 14th Birthday, Kurt bought his first Guitar and would experiment with different music styles. He was also a roadie for a Seattle band called The Melvins. A few weeks before his graduation, Kurt dropped out of high school to get a job. Unfortunately, his attempts at hold a job were not successful.

How he built his career

Kurt Cobain started his career by writing songs in his room all day in his teens until he met Krist Novaselic who would become the bass player for their newly founded band “Nirvana”. Throughout the time they were in the band they went through many drummers until Dave Grohl joined the band and that is when Kurt’s career kicked off. Before Nirvana Released their 1st studio album, Kurt Cobain had a solo career in 1988 but the album wouldn’t be released until 2015 by Universal Music. This album was Recorded with a 4-track cassette recorder in his living room at home. Nirvanas first studio album “Bleach” would have their first number one single “Love Buzz” which gained popularity in the U.K and landed them their first gig in Newcastle and then would get themselves a set at Leeds Fest. As Nirvanas popularity grew they released more albums. Their second studio album, “Nevermind” would feature their most popular song “Smells Like Teen Spirit”. Nevermind became the first alternative-rock album to gain global mainstream popularity.

Potential Clients

My potentialclients is my outside band, Miasma. We have a gig booked in May and we areplaying 5 songs. I could offer my services of being a guitar player to otherbands in need of one, I could also offer people such as Lexie and Ayden myservices as a guitar player for their songs. They could also get me in to playguitar on projects they would be working on.

  2. Leon’s EPK is amazingly descriptive. When talking about how they became a guitar player, who their inspirations. Fantastic detail of where they’ve performed at and with some imbedded links showing the Reader some footage of the Basecamp gig and the recording studio performance of Decepticon By L’Tigre. Great work as always.
